Hi, I’m Honami.

I’ve loved books for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Japan, I was always that quiet kid with a novel tucked under her arm, completely absorbed in fictional worlds. Even now, living in the U.S. and working part-time at a Japanese restaurant, I carry a book with me wherever I go—just in case there’s a quiet moment.

Over the years, I’ve noticed how difficult it is to find reliable, up-to-date information about Japanese books—especially when they’ve been translated into other languages. Some authors don’t even have English profiles. Some incredible books are translated, but barely mentioned online. And for readers outside Japan, it can feel impossible to even know where to start.

That frustration sparked something in me.
I kept thinking: “Why isn’t there a simple, clear place to discover Japanese books in translation?”
So, I decided to build one.

hon.wiki is my answer to that question.
It’s a space where Japanese literature can live a second life—in English, and eventually in many other languages. A place for readers to find their next favorite author, and for authors to be seen and appreciated around the world.

I’m not a publisher. I’m not an agent.
I’m just someone who believes that stories deserve to travel.
This is my way of helping them along the way.

Thanks for being here.
Let’s discover something together.
