When I first imagined hon.wiki, I didn’t want it to be a blog, a book review site, or a publisher’s page. I wanted it to be something simpler—and in some ways, more ambitious.

So, what is hon.wiki?

At its core, hon.wiki is a growing directory of Japanese authors and their translated works. It’s designed to help people around the world discover Japanese literature, even if they don’t read Japanese. Each author has a profile. Each book has its own page. And wherever possible, I include links to English (and other language) editions, publishers, and resources.

I created this site for curious readers, for translators looking for new voices, for publishers hunting for rights, and honestly—for anyone who’s ever searched “Japanese book translated into English” and come up mostly empty-handed.

There are so many incredible Japanese books that remain under the radar outside Japan. Not because they’re not good. But because the information is scattered, outdated, or missing entirely.
hon.wiki is my small way of fixing that.

This is just the beginning.
Soon, I hope to include more languages, more tools for discovery, and maybe even ways for readers to recommend books themselves. Until then, I’ll keep reading, researching, and updating—one book at a time.
